Valentine's Day: Indoors Edition
I’m sure for everyone, Valentine’s Day looks a little different this year. Between the pandemic and some of us, it’s so cold that you don’t want to bear the elements. Anyway, a lot of us are going to be indoors (per usual). I know that when you’re inside every day, you get into a routine and all the days feels the same. BUT NOT VALENTINE’S DAY, BABY. Here are a few ways to spice up your indoor Valentine’s Day. ☺
buy/make some decorations
Set the mood, people! Cut out hearts, balloons, red garland, anything that makes the day feel a little more special. Don’t even come at me with, “But Lauren, I can’t afford nice decorations”. The dollar tree has so many good Valentine’s Day themed options. Decorations are a definite way for it to feel extra special and not just like another day of sitting in the house! Even a few balloons can change the whole mood.
get crafty with your cocktails
Don’t get me wrong, I think a bottle of tasty wine is classic, and you can’t go wrong. But if you’re trying to make your night more fun, try making your own cocktails. You could pick a drink you’ve both never had before and try something new. Or you could each pick a different drink to make for each other! You could even make it a game, like, who’s drink tastes better or who’s drink has better presentation wins.
dress up… I mean it
To prevent it from feeling like an everyday night, get dressed up like you were going out to a super nice restaurant. Put something on that makes you feel good! Pulling out a dress that you never get to wear and make your significant other put on their very best fancy clothes. It might feel silly at first, putting on your nicest clothes and walking to the kitchen table. But it will be worth it, and it will definitely make your night memorable.
technology-free night
Turn off your phones for the entire night! Turn them off, put them in a hiding spot, and enjoy your evening. This means no distractions, so you can really focus on spending quality time with your boyfriend, girlfriend, or Galentine. Instead of being on your phones, you could play a board game, card game, or just take the time to really talk with each other.
scavenger hunt
The thought of this idea makes me smile. Even if it’s a silly short scavenger hunt, it keeps the other person on their toes. This one will require a little more planning than my other ideas, but I think it is totally worth it. You’re probably going to get them a gift anyway; why not hide it somewhere and make it more fun.
bonus idea: create your own “25 before turning 25”
Last year my boyfriend, Jayson, and I made a list of 25 things we want to do before turning 25. It was entertaining for us to come up with our bucket list. It doesn’t have to be as ambitious as 25 things. It could be 5 things I want to do before next year. It was great to always have something to look forward to. If you want to revisit the things Jayson and I put on our list, click here.
And that is all I have for you! I hope everyone has a delightful Valentine’s Day! ♡
