What to Look For When Thrifting

Hi, I'm Lauren, and I'm addicted to thrift shopping (Hi Lauren). I used to be one of those people that never thrifted because "nothing fits me right" or "I hate digging through everything and not finding anything." Now, I can firmly say that ship has sailed. I absolutely love thrifting now. I've learned that thrifting for some items is so much easier than others.

Jackets

I've found jackets are so easy to thrift. I wanted a new puffer for winter/spring, and Goodwill had a whole row of puffers. Not to mention peacoats, zip-ups, and jean jackets. Thrifting coats are better than buying them brand new because odds are you will be able to get two or three coats thrifted at the same price you would pay for one brand new coat.

Flannels

Someone at my work shared this pro tip with me; hit the men's sections for flannels instead of the women's! There are so many big flannels that work well for an oversized look. Who needs a brand new shacket (shirt + jacket) when you can thrift an oversized comfy flannel.

Blazers

As we all know, oversized blazers are super trendy at the moment (and I believe they will be staying around). Thrifts store will always have basic black blazers, *Dwight Schrute voice* FACT! For any trendy item, you should think about thrifting (if you can). But a classic black blazer will go with everything, and if you hit the men's section, you will most definitely be able to find an oversized one.

Paperbag Pants

I know this is oddly specific, but usually, when I hit thrift stores, I can count on seeing at least a few pairs of paper bag pants. These are the pants that are gathered at the top but usually have a wide-legged bottom. These pants were super popular in the 80s, so they are generally in a pretty fun, wild color whenever I see them.

Let me know in the comments what are some of your favorite items to thrift!
